How to Make a Newborn Tutu Photo Prop

Updated: Oct 11, 2022

Hello Friends! Its just been so darn hot this week...Over 100 degrees nearly every day in the Inland Empire. I had a lovely mama-to-be cancel her photo session today due to doctor's orders to rest and stay out of the heat. Its a disappointment for both of us..but it happens, and I would NEVER want to risk the health of a mom or her baby during a during a maternity session. I'm looking forward to taking photos of her beautiful baby in a month of so.

With extra time on my hands today I decided to make some adorable Newborn Tutus for future Newborn Photo sessions. They are really simple to make and are just so darn CUTE! They would be perfect tor toddlers and Cake Smashes too!

All you need is a couple rolls of net Tulle ( you can buy at Amazon, MIchael's, Walmart etc), some satin ribbon, a piece or cardboard, ruler and scissors.

Here's a video to show you the basics of how its done. https://youtu.be/ICy4przKxcU . My template was 7 1/2 inches wide, which gave me 15" strips of tulle and I used 1 pieces with each wrapped loop. I used 1" ribbon cut to 45" and trimmed down after completed Give it a try! Happy Crafting !
